DOCTOR Abraham, a well known cancer specialist was on his way to catch a plane to another city where he was due to receive an award for his work in medical research.
He was very excited about the pending award and couldn’t wait for the plane to whisk him away to the conference where he expected to be lauded with fervent platitudes, warm smiles and hand shakes.
However, two hours after the plane took off, it made an emergency landing at the nearest airport due to a technical fault.
Afraid that he would not make it in time to the conference, Dr Abraham immediately went to the reception to make enquiries. He was told that he would have to wait 10 hours for the next flight to his destination!
He resolved to rent a car and drive himself to the conference venue, which was four hours away.
Soon after Dr Abraham drove off, the weather changed and a heavy storm brought a downpour which made it difficult for him to see. Consequently, he missed a turn he was supposed to take.
Driving in the heavy rain on a deserted road, feeling hungry and tired, Dr Abraham frantically began to look for any sign of civilization. He was relieved when he spotted a small dilapidated house by the roadside.
Parking the car, he walked over to the door and knocked. A beautiful lady opened the door.
Dr Abraham explained his situation and asked if he could use the lady’s telephone. But she had no telephone. Nevertheless, the lady asked him to come inside and stay until the weather improved.
The doctor, who was hungry and exhausted, accepted the offer. The lady offered him something to eat and drink.
Then she asked him to join her in prayer, but he declined, telling her that he believed in hard work, not in prayers!
Sitting at the table and sipping his tea, Dr Abraham watched the woman pray many times beside a baby’s crib. Feeling that the woman might be in need of help, the doctor asked her what exactly she needed from God and if indeed, God had ever answered her prayers.
When he inquired what was ailing the child in the crib, the woman said: “My son has cancer.”
“Cancer?” Dr Abraham asked.
“Yes,” the woman replied. “I have been advised to consult a doctor named Abraham who could cure my son,” she added sorrowfully. “But I can’t afford his fees. That’s why I keep praying to God to provide a cure for my son. I will never allow my fears for my son’s life to overcome my faith in God.”
Stunned and speechless, Dr. Abraham began to weep! Suddenly, he shouted, “GOD IS GREAT!”
As the woman stared at him, uncomprehendingly, Dr Abraham started to relate the sequence of coincidental events that had brought him to the woman’s house: malfunction on the plane, a thunderstorm and how he had lost his way.
“I can see now that God led me to your door,” Dr Abraham said. “He answered your prayers because I’m Dr Abraham the cancer specialist. God brought me here to cure you son and to give me a chance to come out of my bondage of materialistic things and career pursuit. Oh! What a God!”
God may not answer your prayers YOUR WAY but he will always answer HIS way.
Behind the scenes, he will move men, the weather, events, circumstances, etc. in order to work out the best for you!
Do not stop trusting!
Do not stop hoping!
God is busy planning your dancing this year!
Look up daily!
